Black Abbey

 
Founded in 1225 this is one of Ireland’s oldest churches and is still in use by the Dominicans by whom it was founded. Look out for the excellent examples of modern and antique stained glass windows, the wooden roof and the stonework. Nearby on Abbey St is the last existing remnant of the entrance gate in the medieval city walls.

Sub Aqua

 
Kilkenny Sub Aqua Club
Members go on dives on Sundays off the Waterford and Wexford coast and occasional weekend diving trips to the West coast are organised. Members are involved in search and rescue operations. The club has its own boats and equipment and can hire out equipment to members for training. Meetings and training for diving qualifications are held every Wednesday night, 9pm-10pm, from January to May in the Watershed swimming pool.

Loreto Secondary School has a floodlit Astroturf pitch available for renting to groups during evenings, weekends and holidays. Suitable for soccer, GAA football, or hockey and can be divided into four secure mini pitches. Fully equipped sports hall suitable for basketball, badminton, volleyball and indoor soccer is available for renting to groups during evenings, weekends and holidays.
