Hello to all our registered users,

Heres an update on various planning issues in the County at present.

Abbey Quarter/Smithwicks Brewery Site
Two very productive public consultation workshops, entitled The Brewery:
Re-Visioning, were held in January, and thanks to everyone who attended.
Thanks also to everyone who made a submission to the Re-Visioning process.
The closing date for submissions was the 9th February 2015.

As part of this ongoing consultation, the Council will be holding a
workshop in conjunction with Comhairle na nÓg, to gather the views of
young people of Kilkenny. Further information is available here:

All the work from the public consultation will be summarised in a report on
the outcome of the Re-Visioning Public Consultation, which will issue later
in February. This will report on the two public workshops, the Comhairle
workshop, and also on the submissions received. We will notify all our
registered ourplan users via email once this report is published on our

To update you on other aspects of the Master Plan process, archaeological
consultants have been appointed and an archaeological assessment is
underway. Environmental consultants have also been appointed to carry out
a Strategic Environmental Assessment and an Appropriate Assessment, and
these assessments will be commenced shortly.

Reminder: submissions are being accepted until February 20th to the Mayfair
redevelopment proposal.

Local Area Plans
The review of the Ferrybank-Belview Local Area Plan (2009-2020) has
commenced. Details of the pre-draft submissions period and a public
meeting (being held on the 18th February in Abbey Community College) are
available here:
