Saint Canice's Cathedral

Saint Canice's Cathedral
Impressive Cathedral, completed in 1285. The second longest Cathedral in Ireland. Look out for the small-scale model of the city, as it was in 1640.
Opening hours:  January to March and October to December: Monday to Saturday 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm. Sundays 2pm to 4pm.
April, May and September: Monday to Saturday 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm. Sundays 2pm to 5pm.
June, July and August: Monday to Saturday 9am to 6pm. Sundays 2pm to 6pm.
Note: The Cathedral may be closed to visitors at times during the above periods when religious services are in progress.

The Cathedral has an excellent example of a ninth century round tower. The climb to the top is well worth it for a bird's eye view of Kilkenny, although the steps are very steep and there are plenty of them, so be warned! Open April to October, weather permitting.
