Social Groups

ICA (Irish Country Women's Association)
The Bantracht na Tuaithe, the Kilkenny and County federation of ICA has several hundred members in 21 guilds. Activities range from golf and drama to writing and lobbying government on women's issues. Arts and crafts are very important to members. Kilkenny members have an annual week-long trip to An Grianán in Co Louth, ICA's Adult Education College. There is a hand craft week in March every year. Members go on weekend trips and there is an annual international trip. Members do classes in computers, mobile phones, digital cameras, gardening, and flower arranging, swimming and physical fitness. Meetings are held once or twice a month, depending on the guild.
