Weekly group chess lessons for adults at the Club House Hotel. 10 week courses in chess arranged for any group of up to 12 adults anywhere in Co Kilkenny. Chess is very good for all generations. The benefits are huge – better concentration, self esteem, planning and so on. Great fun for all!

Community Education

 
This service facilitates and supports community based learning in locations throughout the city and county.  Its aim is to encourage adults to return to learning in their own local communities.  Subjects include personal development, art, sign language, crafts, computer skills and are organised in association with a wide variety of groups/organisations.  Classes generally run for 6 to 10 weeks. A minimum of 10 participants is required to begin a class.

Healthy Cooking Classes
Cookery classes with emphasis on using health-giving foods such as fresh fruit and vegetables, wholegrains, nuts, seeds, pulses (chickpeas, beans and lentils) and fish. Recipes are tasty and simple.

Counselling

 
National Counselling Institute of Ireland
Part-time degree courses in Counselling Studies and Psychometric Testing. These are three year courses held one evening a week and one Saturday a month. Other courses available are Degrees in Counselling Skills and Addiction Studies,  Adult Guidance Counselling Studies and Youth and Counselling Studies, Certificate in Counselling skills & Practices and Masters in Counseling and Psychotherapy.

Drama

 
Barnstorm Theatre Company
Weekly theatre workshops dedicated to giving local people the opportunity to debate and create theatre, increase their theatre skills and meet new faces.  Training focuses on acting skills, but there are also specialised theatre workshops in scriptwriting, devising, directing and theatre design.  Annual December production will take place at the Watergate Theatre.  September enrolment – membership limited so book early.  No experience necessary.

Grennan College
The Grennan College Equestrian Centre offers one or two year practical and academic courses for those seeking careers in the horse industry. The Centre has an all weather outdoor menage and an indoor school.  Courses available in Equestrian Studies and Horsemanship. Qualifications include FETAC Level 5 Certificate, British Horse Society Stages 1, 2 and 3 and Preliminary Teacher Training (PTT) – Assistant Instructor.
